Alaniz Construction is a licensed paving contractor, serving the Bay Area since 1989. Finding and choosing dependable paving contractors can be a difficult process. For some, it is a matter of rolling the dice and dialing phone numbers from the yellow pages to different paving contractors. Others lean on friends and neighbors for their recommendations.

Although one pavement job may look like any other on the surface, there is a difference in quality. Quality paving can be seen in the way edges are cut, the size and shape of the areas chosen for removal, use of proper equipment, the trained eye and technique of the raker, and the compacting of the surface. In fact, the biggest factor that may go unnoticed is the compaction of the asphalt. Proper compaction leads to a longer life, stronger joints, and a solid surface.

Quality in seal coat can be seen in the cleaning of the surface, the number of coats applied, the dilution rate of the material, the coverage around the edges, care in "cutting" around concrete surfaces, the application of the material, and special attention to detail.

It is very important to carefully compare proposals from paving contractors, including such intangibles as quality, warranty, years in business, and ease of doing business. There is a discernible difference in approaches, philosophies, and actual performance.
