Road Services Division
We also have a Road Services Division, which works with underground utilities to replace and repair flat concrete structures to like-new conditions, often replicating specialty finishes. Although time-consuming, the concrete is often the last piece of the utility connection and the most visible to the customer, and is therefore treated with the most care and attention to detail. Advantages of Concrete
- Durable
- Low maintenance
- Excellent nighttime visibility
- Reflectivity reduces energy demand for lighting and absorbs little heat
- Stiff driving surface allows for greater vehicle fuel efficciency and reduces emissions
Disadvantages of Concrete (compared to asphalt)
- Higher construction costs than asphalt
- Longer curing time than asphalt
- Reinforcing materials used are prone to corrosion
- Higher toxic production emissions
- Must be completely removed and replaced when serious repair is needed
- Reconstruction is more costly, time-consuming and disruptive than asphalt
